Vena8 with Glass Coverslip

The Vena8™ biochip with/without glass coverslip adhered; with/without treatment for cell rolling and adhesion on proteins; seeding of cells or microbes and subsequent study of drug interaction, imaging or molecular biology studies under shear flow.  Compatible with brightfield, phase contrast imaging, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy.

Features

  • Biochips are supplied with or without glass coverslip attached.  
  • Glass coverslip may be treated or non-treated; e.g. glass may be treated with chelated Cu2+ ion tethered to the high-density PEG coating - surface of the microchannels may then be easily coated via pipetting and the protein binds via the poly-histidine tag.
  • Biochips available for low or high flow rates / shear stresses.
  • Ideal for whole blood, primary cells, rare cells e.g. where samples are more difficult to retrieve or culture or only small sample volumes available.
  • Perfect for high flow rates / high shear stresses e.g. platelet adhesion, aggregation and thrombi formation studies for thrombosis using whole blood.  In standard flow chambers / perfusion chambers; significant volumes of blood would be required making the assay impossible.
  • Suitable for biofilm applications; particularly Vena8 biochips supplied without glass coverslip:  user may attach any type of coupon to bottom of the biochip.
  • No assembly of the biochip is required unlike many standard perfusion chambers / flow chambers.
  • No luer lock connections which increase dead volume.  Cellix's biochips have a unique plug & play connection with tubing connections which are autoclaveable and reuseable.

Applications:  Flow assays using minimal sample volumes (whole blood, cell suspensions, proteins etc.); immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy.

  • Biochips: Vena8 with adhesive bottom layer; Low Flow Rates; Pack 10; biochips have a protective cover which can be peeled away to reveal adhesive bottom layer to which any material may be attached by the user.
  • Pumps:  Kima pump
  • Low flow rates / shear stresses:  1 dyne/cm2; particularly suited for biofilm applications with Kima pump achieving shear stresses of 1dyne/cm2 where different substrate materials may be easily tested.
